On my way to Subway....

Something awesome happened today on my way to Subway, which wasn’t in my destiny anyway; still I ended up meeting a random person who in my memory will always stay.....
Last night after telling world about my saddest period of life (food wise) on FB and witnessing a day like today I do believe God is on FB! He is a lurker! He didn’t ‘like’ my status or commented on it but certainly took a note of it and thus I got a chance to miss out on thaali from our pantry (yay!) and I managed some time out and awesome company to NFC for lunch. A good friend at work Arnab, a crazy foodie, who has now gone crazier because he is following some diet plan, proposed  Subs from Subway, So in scorching heat we headed for NFC market but how on earth could that have been possible that I was at NFC and would have missed Al-bake Shawarmas... So we had one Shawarma each...Superyumm! I wanted to have more but then I wanted to eat the sub also so we then went to have Sub, Chicken ham and Chicken teriyaki sub for me and him respectively. All that heat was so worth it.
Finally when the day ended at office I got to know that there’s no dinner available and no one’s home today so I planned  of some chilled out time at home – like will pickup breezers and order for Subway delivery and will crash in bed early. And as I reached my house lane, discovered that there’s no power and so my plan seemed to fall out in dark and I thought of going and eating at nearby subway. Hell then I got to know that Main market, Malviya Nagar Subway is shut since 4-5 months and other one is at Saket PVR so I took a rickshaw for it...and this was till date most memorable ride in my life(even better than the one who gave me some lessons of life). As we left for Saket after usual negotiations, He had this remote control in his hand and he pressed play and then started the ‘rage’ the super popular Song ‘Amplifier’ and the sound of it blew my mind man! It was awesome sound quality with woofers and all. I was psyched out for a second and then came out most obvious reaction from me –
‘sahi hai bhaiya...pehli baar aisa rickshaw dekha hai...radio hai ya cd player? ’
‘Radio nahii hai....dvd lagaya hai...’He said hesitantly.
I so wanted to know more about him, I looked around and found out that Auto seat on which I was sitting had a hot babe printed on it! I kept looking with astonishment at this zealous guy and heard his story of how he has his own bike n how he burned this dvd on his laptop n then played in his rickshaw which he loves madly. So on that short ride negotiated at Rs. 30 I had vasooled some thousand Rs. worth of entertainment and a super interesting interview in future on radio (for which convincing him was a tough task).  J
Oh coming back to subway, super-elated with this joyful-musical-high on life Ride, I was narrating the whole incident to my sister on phone and then I found out that Subway is also shut from that place and I ended up buying hell lot of things from 24*7 shop including breezers as per plan and very delicious chicken salamis of Republic of chicken.
Basically as I said that subway for dinner wasn’t in my destiny today, but I met this guy who kind of made my day.

Chicken Ek, Par Recipes Do...bahut naa-insaafi hai.... par tasty hai ;)

When you are just bored with the khichdi being served to you for three consecutive days (though despite being sick I didn’t have it :P) you must try one of the things which me and my sis did today. We had this imaginary recipe for some kind of tandoori chicken tikka in our mind which can be experimentally cooked in baati wala tandoor. So here’s what we did today, ordered fresh chicken (I am glad for finding out his home delivery chicken guys who give chicken as clean and right at our door step as asked for). Now those pieces were categorized in two types. One – those pieces we wanted to have then and there (obviously not raw but would decide something for them kinds) and rest - which should have honour of lifetime for being our subjects for the tandoor experiment. So exactly now I have two recipes –
A.      A. Quick pepper chicken for a peppy brunch
After saying no to Khichdi, Parathas and all other option, we decided to have our all time favourite pepper chicken. Looked out for Amul butter but I don’t know why on earth that doesn’t seems to please my mumma enough and she never keeps it in stock and always insists on putting ghar ka safed makhkhan instead. So we took lot of fresh malai, added lot of freshly squeezed lemon juice and salt and pepper and chicken pieces to it. This was kept in simmer in a kadhai, covered for almost 20-25 minutes. And we were done! This awesome snack chicken with dripping ghee (because of malai added to it, that is why please use butter in its place) is quick, tasty, and very handy dish to have at any meal (at least this is what I feel, I can have it any time of the day ;)). The tale in twist would happen  when you will cook it next time because I don’t know for some reason I have made it lot many times and It has tasted diff every time. This time I licked it till end so here 4.5/5 licks (and not because it’s made by us. Try it to believe it!)

B.      B. Still-not-named-but-superyumm Chicken Tikka
When pepper chicken was happening on earth (read in our kitchen), marinade was being prepared for the chicken tikkas, so whatever available in kitchen that could be added to it was literally added. We had ginger-garlic paste, some curd, lemon juice, salt, red chilli powder. All that were rubbed to the chicken pieces like haldi is rubbed to the bride-to-be.  Usually the brides are never left alone during the wedding day but this marinated chicken was left alone in our fridge for the rest of the day. Evening when I came back home after meeting lot of friends and anticipating for the what-the-tikkas-gonna-be-like, they were already set on our ancient baati wala tandoor just like bride sits on doli to get vidaa. Fire was set, aromas were high and as restless brides they were turning sides (no actually we were turning them to make sure they get cooked from all sides, please bear with my melodrama, it’s like the blood in my veins and food in my thoughts ;)) finally they were done! I prepared this quick virgin mojito (lemon juice + sugar + mint leaves) and very surprisingly our till-date vegetarian baati tandoor turned into a non-vegetarian. :D And ohh yes chicken tikkas were very soft and tender and the garlic lemon flavour worked right through inside out and made it more delicious, I didn’t miss any side dish and was glad to try this new and full of flavour tikkas for which I could pay fortune.  4.5/5 licks again :)

Bhuna gosht with ice cream...err it ain't a dish...

On this very first day of starting this blog I have much of a matter to write...err I would like to correct it ...I have lot of confessions to make (to my health conscience), I guess I am going to take a break right now as I have just written two lines and My mum has got me Daal Makhni (count supermakhani as it has been cooked in a Punjabi’s house) and Biryani...I love this virtual world of talking where nobody would be looking at me licking the last sign of food off plate. Ok catch you later...

Now Believe me or not but It took me exact 17 mins from the time I typed last word which was ‘...’ to the time my plate is as clean as it was before putting food on it. :D I am sure our maid would be really happy with me. Yay!

So dinner you know, and the whole day I have spent eating and trust me did not worked even a bit.

It was Abhishek’s birthday treat whom I really adore as he is some kind of F &B manger in Hotel Fortune Landmark (one of the best place in Indore) and he always gets me some discounts and also makes me try new stuff there. Okay so we could not eat at his workplace so we opted for Nafees Restaurant which is a classic and somehow one of the rare good option for Non-veg Food lovers. If you ever go there on a weekend Do try A dish called ‘Haleem’ which you may not find on menu card but is a very awesome delicacy which has wheat, lentils and Meat cooked together also known as Khichra in other places in India. Since we landed there on a Thursday and were super-hungry so we ordered for Parinda kebab (boneless, masaaledaar tender chicken pieces grilled to make your senses go crazy, 3.5 out of 5 licks (that’s how I rate my dishes ;)) Bhuna Gosht , the brownish -red color of dish was telling us how much Masalas has gone into it, which at one end was making it look so tempting but the oil which covered the dish almost half was calling out to my health-self. Still we went for it. It tasted yumm! the mutton pieces were cooked so well and the soft roomali roti with it was like Jannat! 4 out of 5 licks. Also accompanied them masaala paapad, Sirka-Pyaaz and Pepsi! A sumptuous Lunch which was super-economic in real way. Abhishek was spared in Just Rs. 450 treat.

For the Sweet dish we wanted to have ice cream, so in scorching heat we sat in car and made our way to Pizza hut. Yes you heard it right! Post-lunch we actually were sitting in Pizza hut and ordered for Trio-temptation. If you haven’t tried that one there, do it next time. Yesterday I had gone there with my sister but just had my favourite Kadhai chicken Pizza and Masala Lemonade, never really reached till desserts. But when I saw this bowl with 3 diff flavours of ice cream and lot of chocolate sauce, I so knew it was my kinds. I read the menu card again for details it said - A medley of three scoops - Chocoholic Symphony, Fruit Duet and Honey Crunch Classic served with crunchy choco-sticks.

Not even 5 minutes we took to finish it up and also cracked a joke about how long it would have taken for a real couple to finish that one #mush.

I shall skip all other food items I had during whole day to avoid embarrassment for others yes not me! And also to make sure that my health-self doesn’t freaks out! By and large a nice day...Happy writing to me...and Happy eating to all! :)

n Birthday boy - Abhishek n Me :)

The preparation...getting all ingredients together!

No matter how sinful it is, no matter how much comments I am getting on my increasing weight, I still eat....I eat when I am happy or when I am glum...I eat when I am hungry...also when I am really not....I eat when I meet people and also when I am alone...I eat when I am home or when I go out...I eat when I wake up and yes when I am going to sleep...So basically
I eat all the time! And I have a solid reason for it, I Lurrrveee Food! Not solid enough? Ehh? Well all those guys I said I love you too what good they were...The food I eat gives me immense pleasure(which
some of the guys even did ;)) but also provides lot of nutrients stuff vitamins proteins blah (like I ever check with it :P) the whole point is that I have been eating all my life like normal people do, in fact as a kid I recall myself as super skinny underweight kid who always struggled to finish even 1 chapatti on my plate, Cuz till then I didn’t realise how awesome it was (I always found it as a scheme against the childkind (jus like humankind) by adults) And now even I would not eat a chapatti if I have an option of eating some real awesome dish anywhere on earth at that time!

Today after talking about it to so many people I have decided I am going to write about the food...good, bad and tasty As a. it will help me cherish our immortal love forever; b. It will help me living upto “gyan baatne se badhta hai” wala statement c. It will help me keep a check on exactly how much I am eating and why the fuck my favourite old clothes and even new ones doesn’t fit me anymore!
